KHS helps Salzgitter to generate record earnings

In an environment of increasing uncertainty about future economic developments, the Salzgitter Group succeeded in setting a new record for pre-tax earnings in the first three quarters of a financial year thanks to the strong demand for rolled steel and pipes in the period under review. According to further information announced by Salzgitter, external Group sales increased by EUR 2.14 billion to EUR 9.64 billion (+ 29%); 1st 9 months of 2007: EUR 7.50 billion).

The sales growth was attributable not only to higher sales prices for steel products but also to a large extent (EUR 1.02 billion) to the Klöckner Werke AG companies (mainly the KHS filling and packaging technology operations) in the technology business division as well as to further companies that were not yet consolidated in the Group in the same period the previous year.
